Whether a London apartment, a Bristol townhouse or a listed cottage in Oxfordshire, every home can benefit from a nice interior spruce up. Whatever the architectural style your home, there is no reason you can’t keep up with the latest trends.
Give your walls a splash of colour and revel in the fact the end of winter is in sight!
Gone are the days of cold and clinical colour pallets. Instead of the magnolia and cream that have been heralded as the answer to sticking to a ‘neutral’ colour scheme, we’re now enjoying warmer colour combinations, such as mineral grey and darker shades of beige. Both create warm and comforting looks and are becoming increasingly popular. Be it a feature wall or an entire room, these tones look great when paired with retro teal or Scandinavian style furniture.
What better way to get you prepped for the summer than painting your whole house yellow?
Only joking, not the whole house, but citrusy and fruity shades are proving an excellent way to wholeheartedly rebel against ‘neutral’ colour pallets. Even you don’t want to get the paintbrush out, splashes of colour such as some decorative cushions or curtains in a bright shade of lemon or pink, will transform any room from drab to fab.
While over use may make a room look like a playhouse, reds and greens are enjoying a resurgence. Bold, yet comfortable, these colours are particularly favoured in living rooms and dining areas. If you aren’t brave enough to don your walls with bright cranberry red, smaller details like house plants in red pots, a good rug or green and red throw cushions are just as appealing.
So far we’ve gone bold with our colour schemes, so here’s something a little more subtle to bring us back down to earth. Natural greens are always popular due to their comforting, calming effect. Combined with dark natural wood, these colours provide a harmonious tranquillity, soothing the mind and body, whilst oozing elegance.
Whether you’re looking to move or just looking to improve your home, Andrews can help. If moving isn’t an option, improving is an increasingly popular way of giving the same old bricks and mortar a new lease of life. Whilst a lick of paint can do wonders, why not treat yourself to a new kitchen or an extension? Remortgaging your home might seem like a faff, but it could release some equity in your home that you could spend on a few home improvements. Talk to our mortgage advisor to see if a re-mortgage could be a viable option for you.
