Things to consider when choosing a letting agent

With so many agents out there, it’s tricky knowing which will be the best at letting and managing your property. On the surface they might all seem the same, each offering a similar package – but there will be differences from one agent to the next.

Although you may be driven by price, don’t automatically go with the agent that offers you the highest valuation and the lowest fees – neither will necessarily equate to a quick let and good ongoing service. Instead, look at the whole picture. For example, what different type of management do they offer and what exactly do you get for your fees?

So before you sign on the dotted line, check through the following list to make sure you’re making the right decision.

1. What services do they provide?

It’s important to decide what type of landlord you’ll be and pick a service that suits you. Do you want an agency that will fully manage your property for you or are you going to manage the let yourself?

Hopefully there won’t be any problems, but if there are you’ll want somewhere to turn.

We’re covered by The Property Ombudsman and our Client Money Protection is provided by Propertymark so we make sure to abide by their conduct and membership rules.

5. Service matters

One of the best ways to scope out an agent is to look at ay reviews that they have online or you might also want to see if they’ve won any industry awards.
