Are there local transport links nearby?

Southfields’ residents enjoy both District Line access and regular local buses. Southfields Underground Station is in Zone Three  and it's possible to travel into central London in around 30 minutes.

There is also access to overground stations in neighbouring areas, such as:

• Wimbledon Station
• Putney Station
• Wandsworth Town

What's the local food and drink scene like?

Southfields is home to a number of popular bars and restaurants, including the Bistro Family Kitchen, which is centrally located opposite Southfields Station. Also in the centre, you'll find Franco Manca and The Olive Garden, which serve authentic Italian cuisine, the Thai Girder and the Triphal Indian.

Neighbouring Battersea has a lively nightlife, with a range of late night bars and clubs. However, if you'd prefer to stay in Southfields, there are a number of pubs to choose from, such as The Pig and Whistle, The Earl Spencer, The Gardeners Arms and The Old Fields Pub.

How does Southfields rate for sport and leisure facilities?

The Aspire Centre is centrally located and caters for Southfields resident's every sporting need, with a swimming pool, fitness studio, dance studio, climbing wall and sports hall.

With Wimbledon as a neighbour, it's unsurprising that tennis is a popular pastime in Southfields, and there are a number of clubs including The Garden Tennis Club and Southfields Lawn Tennis Club. There are also a number of other sports clubs in the area, such as archery and mountain sports.

What can you do on a sunny day?

If the sun is shining in Southfields, there are a variety of open spaces to enjoy. The area borders Wimbledon and Putney Common, which is around 460 hectares of countryside, split between Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath and Putney Lower Common.

Residents also have access to Wimbledon Park, King George's Park and Garratt Park.

What can you do on a rainy day?

If the weather takes a turn for the worse, the area still has plenty to keep you occupied. In neighbouring Wimbledon, you'll find the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, which explores the evolution of the game.

For something a little more exciting, there's a climbing wall at the Aspire Centre, which offers classes to suit all abilities. There's also an Odeon in Wimbledon showing all the latest blockbusters.

What's Southfields like for food and retail shopping?

The centre of Southfields has lots of independent shops including butchers, florists, antique dealers and delis. There are also a number of high-street chains, such as Boots and Greggs.

For some more serious retail therapy, there's the Southside Shopping Centre just 0.9 miles away in Wandsworth. The centre has a wide selection of high street brands, including Topshop, The Body Shop, Primark and New Look, as well as a Waitrose supermarket.

In Southfields itself you'll find a Sainsbury’s, a Tesco Express and a Marks & Spencers food hall, whilst there's an Asda in Roehampton.

What does Southfields offer in terms of entertainment?

In neighbouring Earlsfield there's the Tara Arts Theatre, which hosts and presents theatre and other live performances. There's a little something for everyone, with genres including comedy, Bollywood and children's theatre. There's also a Cineworld cinema in Wandsworth showing all of the latest blockbusters.

Alternatively, residents can head into central London for world-class attractions including Madame Tussauds and The London Eye.

For the kids, there's It's a Kid's Thing in Earlsfield, which hosts a variety of children's activity sessions including Funky Feet music sessions twice a week. There are also six paddling pools at Wimbledon Park.

Southfields is well-served by local amenities. Southfields Library is centrally located and provides a wide range of adult and children's books, as well as free internet access.

There's also access to a number of health centres, including Southfields Group Practice.

What's the local traffic and parking like?

Southfields has resident parking, along with free and pay and display on-street parking. Alternatively, Southside Shopping Centre offers paid, 24 hour parking.

How well is the area served by primary and secondary Schools?

There are a number of popular primary and secondary schools in the Southfields area. In Southfields itself, primary schools include Sheringdale Primary School and St Michael's Church of England Primary School. There is also a secondary school, Southfields Academy.
