Sales market busiest since 2007

Over 950,000 sales are estimated to have taken place across the first 7 months of 2021 in the UK, which makes it the UK’s busiest housing market since 2007.

Sales volumes in 2021 are over 30% higher than in any year since 2007, excluding 2016 which is when the 3% surcharge on second homes was introduced.

The market doesn’t look like it’ll be slowing down anytime soon either. Zoopla estimate that the number of sales agreed in August this year was up 21% on 2018 and 2019.

It’s predicted that the number of sales will top 1.5 million by the end of the year.

Naturally, this has occurred due to people delaying their 2020 move due to the pandemic and nationwide lockdowns that occurred throughout the year.

If you’re looking to sell your home then now is a great time to sell as there are many buyers still looking for their next property.
