Surge for pet-friendly rental properties

Tenant demand has risen by 13% over the past year, so you might think that demand for pet-friendly rental properties has increased by a similar figure, however you’d be wrong.

The demand for pet-friendly rental properties has more than doubled, with enquires to agents up 120% according to Rightmove.

Over half of UK adults are thought to own a pet with the most popular being a dog (26% of adults) or a cat (24% of adults).

It’s likely that with more and more people continuing to work from home or continuing with flexible working that more and more people have decided to become pet-owners.

Research has found that nearly a third of renters are prepared to pay a premium for a pet-friendly property by increasing their rent by £40 outside of London and £50 in London.
