Natasha is running to give back
This year, we have four fantastic runners entering the London Marathon to raise money for two fantastic causes.
With less than three weeks to go, we wanted to share a little bit more about each of our runners and what it means to them to be running in a few weeks time.
Natasha Barnes, Business Manager for Balham
Why did you want to run the London Marathon?
Following the last few years, many of us have felt disconnected, I wanted to be part of something that will see so many people come together for some fantastic causes.
Why did you choose to run for Child Rescue Nepal?
Running for Child Rescue Nepal means that I get to fundraise for a cause dedicated to rescuing and caring for Children in Nepal.
The charity has been rescuing and caring for vulnerable children in Nepal since 1999 who are either being exploited or at risk of being Trafficked.
The charities work consists of Recuing Children, Reuniting families, care and support and prevention.
Child Rescue Nepal Impact
- Raised over £7 million for Nepal’s children.
- Rescued over 850 children, with ongoing support in many cases.
- Pursued the prosecution of 24 traffickers, helping to jail 14 in Nepal and India.
- Supported a case in the High Court against a well-known Nepali trafficker.
- Currently caring for 42 children in our small family-style homes.
- Improved education for 50,000 children in the trafficking-prone district, Makwanpur.
- Raised £150,000 for earthquake relief in 2015 and delivered a comprehensive school reconstruction program.
How has your training been going?
Training has been a challenge, both mentally and physically, but I wanted to be challenged personally to know that I have persevered in working towards such an incredible event.
I would really appreciate your help and support, thanks to all who have given so generously so far! Please check out my page and give as much as you can it all really does help.
