Minimum Level of Energy Efficiency
New regulations are coming into place on April 1st 2020 which means that all rental properties need a valid EPC with a rating of E or above.
The Regulations apply to all domestic private rented properties that are:
- let on specific types of tenancy agreement
- legally required to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
If you are a Landlord and your rental property has an EPC rating of F or G, you must take appropriate steps to comply with the requirements of the MEES Regulations.

Action |

For information regarding how to improve energy efficiency you should refer to your most recent EPC report. This report will include a list of recommendations detailing measures which should improve the energy efficiency. Recommendations range from roof insulations, draught proofing to low energy lighting.
If you’re unsure whether your property is affected by the changes then speak to your Property Manager at your branch to discuss these changes in more detail.
