Now is the time for home improvements
Did you know that April is National Home improvements month? Now is the perfect time to pick up a paint brush or even just get that feather duster out again.
If you are thinking about completing some home improvements over the next few months then you’re certainly not alone. Property owners across the UK have spent almost £8000 each on home improvements over the last five years, which amounts to a huge £48 billion!
Nearly three quarters of home owners have redecorated, while two in five have put in new flooring or landscaped the garden and one third has refreshed their bathroom.
But why do people make these improvements? Well over half of home owners said that their motivation was to improve the look and feel of their home. Nearly a quarter said it was to add value and one in five bought a ‘fixer-upper’ property specifically for the renovation and home improvements. Whilst 7% of property owners said they undertook improvements because it was cheaper to do so compared to moving.
Taking on home improvements doesn’t have to be a mammoth job, if that’s not what you want. You might be surprised to see, and feel, the difference that a lick of paint can make to a room. Or, if you’re not into DIY then rearranging your existing decorative items can really refresh your home.
If redecorating isn’t enough and you’ve got the itch to move rather than improve then why not get an instant online valuation to see how much your property is worth?
