Greener transport on the rise

During this period of lockdown the nation has turned to different forms of transport as we look to avoid public transport and minimise non-essential car journeys. The number of people walking and cycling has increased massively, as people chose these as their main form of transport.

It’s no surprise to see these two forms of transport on the up as the nation also looks to get some outside excursive into their schedule as well. The number of people making journeys on bikes has grown by 70% whilst the interested in bikes has increased by 118%. So you’re definitely not alone if you’ve been thinking about investing in a new bike!

Whilst it’s obviously not always possible to walk or cycle everywhere 40% of urban journeys at the moment are under 2 miles, which is the perfect distancing to swap driving to walking or cycling! The Government has also seen the importance of these changing behaviours and the positive effects of cycling as they have announced a £250 million investment into greener transport. This includes pop-up cycle lanes, wider pavements, safer junctions and bus only areas.

If you’re looking to move to an area that’s more accommodating of greener transport, whether that’s into a city where everything is on your doorstep, or into the countryside so you can get cycling those sprawling country roads then we can help.
